Nottingham Forest and the “fantastic” 25-year-old player have now begun contract negotiations.

Nottingham Forest have held talks with Ryan Yates over an extension to his existing contract. The midfielder has risen through the club’s academy ranks and last season established himself in the Premier League.

Yates, 25, has been out of the team lately. The player hasn’t started a game since the win over Chelsea back in September, with Steve Cooper preferring other options.

Since joining the team on deadline day, Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare have both been a regular. The head coach has chosen Orel Mangala to go with them, and he’s doing great.
