O’Neil surely has to unleash ‘exciting’ £10m star with 0 minutes yet for Wolves on Ipswich

Wolves are back in Carabao Cup action tomorrow night, and take on Ipswich Town in the third round.

Wanderers are looking to bounce back from the disappointing 1-1 draw against Luton Town at the weekend.

Wolves became the only Premier League team this season not to beat the Hatters.

It will be a chance for Gary O’Neil to experiment, and get minutes into the legs of some players that haven’t featured much yet.

And one man O’Neil should consider playing against the Tractor Boys is Enso Gonzalez…

Time for Enso Gonzalez to shine for Wolves

O’Neil is bound to be making wholesale chances to the side that started against Luto

And he surely has to consider handing Gonzalez a debut.

Gonzalez arrived at Wolves the day before transfer deadline day from Libertad, for a reported fee of around £10 million.

His arrival came fairly out of the blue, but the club are very excited about the Paraguayan starlet.

Matt Hobbs said at the time of his arrival (Wolves official): “He’s an exciting player.

“Creativity, playing forward, being aggressive in possession and doing his work out of possession, but for me it was more what he does offensively. Most players do the other side of the work if you’re getting the right sort of people, but with Enso I’m excited to see what he gives us going forward.

“His personality will be important for us, and we’ve seen from Joao the type of grit a lot of South American players have.”

So far this season, Pedro Neto has played every minute of every game for Wolves in the Premier League.

This is undoubtedly an opportunity to rest the star man, ahead of a really difficult game against Manchester City on Saturday.

Hwang Hee-chan has also played quite a lot recently.

You would imagine Pablo Sarabia will play, possible from the right.

But it would be nice to see Gonzalez also get an opportunity against a Championship side.

The game is at Portman Road so Gonzalez, 18, would perhaps be being thrown in at the deep a bit.

But he surely needs a game like this to show what he can do, and prove himself as a genuine option for O’Neil to use in the Premier League.
