‘Back with us,’ says Steve Cooper, adding that the 32-year-old might play for Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Steve Cooper, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, has issued an update on Willy Boly. The center defender was left out of Forest’s 20-man squad for Monday night’s 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The Ivorian defender had made a good start to the season. The seasoned enforcer started the opening four Premier League games of the season and also appeared in the Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley.

Boly, on the other hand, did not make the Forest squad on Monday night. Scott McKenna and Joe Worrall were the Reds’ primary defenders as they sought their third win of the season.

The Reds have gotten a lot out of the 32-year-old. Boly has been a bit of a surprise since joining Forest, making 15 appearances for the Reds last season.

His fitness, on the other hand, has limited his progress at the City Ground. After a strong start to the season, it was maybe unfortunate that he was unable to play on Monday night.

However, it does not appear that he will be out for long. Cooper was questioned about Boly ahead of Forest’s match against Manchester City on Saturday.

“Willy Boly is back with us,” he told BBC Sport. He’s another one we keep an eye on on a daily basis.”

Cooper provides an update on Boly ahead of Forest’s visit to Manchester City.

This weekend, the seasoned defender will return to the Reds. If he’s healthy, he has no choice but to play, with Cooper likely reverting to his three-man central defensive scheme.

Forest are presently endowed with a number of central defenders. Felipe and Moussa Niakhate have both struggled with fitness, with Worrall and McKenna also involved.

Furthermore, Forest has two young players waiting for their chance. Murillo and Andrew Omobamidele joined throughout the transfer window and will be competing soon.

Forest will benefit greatly from Boly’s comeback. Now, he’ll be hoping to reclaim his position in the team for this weekend’s thankless trip to Manchester City.
