Latest News Paul Merson predicts that Nottingham Forest will be one of the surprising results

Paul Merson lauded Nottingham Forest for producing “one of the season’s shock results” by defeating Chelsea. But he does not believe they can repeat that performance against champions Manchester City.

Steve Cooper’s Reds travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (3pm) after defeating Chelsea 1-0 in their last Premier League away match. Forest’s Anthony Elanga was on target at Stamford Bridge.

Forest have since drew 1-1 at the City Ground with Burnley before hosting City, who have a perfect record at the top of the table after five games and also triumphed in the Champions League in midweek.

“Nottingham Forest secured one of the season’s shock results by beating Chelsea earlier this month, but I don’t see anything other than a Manchester City win here,” Merson predicted for Sportskeeda.

“Because Liverpool and Arsenal play on Sunday, the reigning champions have a fantastic opportunity to win and put severe pressure on their opponents.”

“Erling Haaland has been City’s standout performer since his arrival last season, but I’m a big fan of Julian Alvarez – he’s a special player.” He can play as a No. 10 or up front and has the capacity to score and create goals, as we witnessed in the UCL in midweek.

“He’s been playing pretty much every week this season – long may it continue!”

Manchester City 3-1 Nottingham Forest, according to Merson.
