Ivan Toney is being linked with a big-money move away from his current club, Brentford, five years after being sold by Newcastle United.
Toney and Newcastle were not a perfect combination. The striker did not receive enough opportunities on Tyneside, and he has conceded that he might have done more to be a success in black and white.
But Toney is now a dangerous Premier League striker and England international, and he appears to be on the move in 2024.
The 27-year-old is being linked with a transfer away from Brentford next year, with Toney set to return to action in January when his ban for violating betting regulations expires.
He’s even been mentioned as returning to St James’ Park. Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing Toney and have conducted negotiations with him about a move earlier this month.
Toney’s return to the club would be a huge surprise, but according to Fabrizio Romano, he might not cost as much as predicted.
What is Brentford’s asking price for Ivan Toney?
When it was announced that Toney was leaving Brentford, it was reported that he might cost up to £80 million. However, transfer specialist Romano believes it will be far less.
“Ivan Toney wants to leave Brentford and try a new experience in 2024,” he announced on his YouTube page.
“That’s why he hired a new agent, Stellar Group, to look after his future.” Chelsea and Arsenal are both well informed of the scenario.

It would be a great surprise to see the Magpies make a bid for Toney unless one of them is departing. There is no danger of Isak or Wilson leaving – the former is a long-term fixture at Newcastle, while the latter has just signed a new contract.
While acquiring Toney would provide Newcastle with perhaps the best attack force in the Premier League, a return to Tyneside appears unlikely. Even with the possibility that he may cost £30 million less than was previously claimed.
