Sheffield United’s rivals transfers compared as Nottingham Forest boss  makes a statement

Nottingham Forest brought the curtain down on their transfer business by splashing £30m on PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare. He was one of a handful of big names who arrived towards the close of the summer window.

He was joined by reported Sheffield United target Divock Origi, on loan from AC Milan, as Steve Cooper’s side sent out a statement of intent over their intentions to remain in the Premier League.

Forest have also brought in World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel, whose winning penalty in the 2022 final saw Argentina crowned champions, while Callum Hudson-Odoi also joined from Chelsea and Andrew Omobamidele came in from Norwich City as part of 15 confirmed incomings.

Forest spent more than £80m on incomings, but shipped out a staggering 28 players.

Bournemouth took their summer spending spree to close to £115m, with three signings commanding £20m or above in terms of fees. Alex Scott arrived from Bristol City for £25m, Hamed Traore came in from Sassuolo for £20m and Tyler Adams arrived from Leeds following a £24m move.

Everton were the quietest team in terms of numbers, bringing in just five players but had a strong finish with striker Beto coming in from Udinese for £25.8m.

Burnley, meanwhile, brought in 16 players, including Sander Berge, with James Trafford’s £19m arrival from Man City among the more eye-catching, while fellow promoted team Luton added 12 new players to their ranks.

Ross Barkley on a free from Nice was among their standout arrivals, along with Marvelous Nakamba from Aston Villa.
