Liverpool unshakeable defender serious risk of missing out game against Wolves on September 16th

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss the next two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Trent hobbled off the pitch after putting on a clinic against Aston Villa on Sunday, and has now pulled out of the England squad.

According to The Athletic though, the right-back’s issue is not a particularly serious one. They claim that after undergoing a scan on Monday, it looks likely that Trent will be out of action for around a fortnight.

Clearly, this would put him at serious risk of missing Liverpool’s game against Wolves on September 16th. Indeed, The Athletic report that the £180k-a-week defender is now a doubt to feature at Molineux.

However, this is reportedly not yet set in stone, and will depend on how Alexander-Arnold responds to treatment. Regardless, it’s claimed that the Scouser will miss no more than one Premier League game at most

Although this is good news for Liverpool, it does still leave a lingering worry for Reds fans.

With Conor Bradley looking like being injured for a little while, they don’t really have a natural back-up to Trent in their squad.

For the time being, the understudy is Joe Gomez. But with Liverpool’s current availability issues at centre-back, Gomez may well be needed there against Wolves.

If either Ibrahima Konate or Virgil van Dijk are back, then there’s no problem. Gomez can slot in at full-back, with Joel Matip continuing in the middle.

But if both are still missing – which there is a chance of – then just what does Jurgen Klopp then do?

In years gone by, the answer would be obvious – James Milner. But with the veteran no longer at the club, Klopp might have to think of a creative solution.

Perhaps Kostas Tsimikas could come across to a job on the opposite side? Maybe Wataru Endo or even Stefan Bajcetic could fill in? Best case scenario, Trent is back. But Klopp will already have a plan for otherwise. It had better be a good one.
