With the Brennan Johnson transfer saga potentially reaching its finale this week, Nottingham Forest may find themselves a man short in wide attacking areas.
Should Johnson leave the City Ground for Tottenham Hotspur, it will be a blow for Steve Cooper’s side, however, it will give them £50 million or so to play with in the market.
With funds raised from Johnson’s potential departure, the Reds should target a move for Arsenal wideman Emile Smith Rowe.
Arsenal are prepared to let the ‘unbelievable‘ 23-year-old leave the club this summer, with Chelsea already said to be interested in the youngster.
What would Emile Smith-Rowe bring to Nottingham Forest?
Forest fans were given a glimpse of the potential partnership between Smith Rowe and Morgan Gibbs-White during the U21 European Championships during the summer.
The pair combined brilliantly for a goal during the campaign, helping England on their way to winning the tournament.
Smith Rowe also has previous playing under Cooper for England U17s, as they won the World Cup back in 2017.
The 23-year-old found game time hard to come by last season as Mikel Arteta’s side pushed for the Premier League title, however, the season before Smith Rowe was a key man for the Gunners.
When comparing Johnson’s season last year with Smith Rowe’s in 2021/22, the Arsenal man scored more goals with a better conversion rate – whilst creating more chances and completing more take-ons.
Whilst a move for the Arsenal man may be tricky, he would certainly soften the blow of the potential departure of Johnson to Spurs.
