Newcastle boss Eddie Howe  finally provide update about injury

Eddie Howe admits Sven Botman’s ankle injury “doesn’t look good”, but is waiting to hear more from the club’s medical team.

The Dutchman landed awkwardly after heading wide in the second half of yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool and had to be helped off by two members of staff. However, one promising post-match update has arrived from The Athletic’s Jacon Whitehead.

The North-East reporter claims the defender was NOT wearing a protective boot or crutches as he limped out of St James’ Park after the game. So, while Howe’s comments are hardly reassuring, we’ll have to hope the injury isn’t as serious as some first feared.
