Newcastle at verge of closing in £175,000-a-week player this week

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have reportedly received a boost in their quest to sign Marc Cucurella from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United have been linked with Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.

On August 14, The Telegraph reported that Newcastle want to sign Cucurella from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The report claimed that the Magpies reportedly believe that the 25-year-old Spain international left-back “would like to make the move” to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph added that Chelsea would prefer to sell the £175,000-a-week (Spotrac) Spain international left-back.

Chelsea stance on Newcastle United target Marc Cucurella

However, it now seems that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are willing to do a loan deal for Cucurella.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Chelsea are ready to send Cucurella out on loan in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that the Blues will do a deal only on their own terms.

Romano has added that Manchester United want to sign the former Brighton and Hove Albion star and are already in talks with Chelsea.

While Manchester United’s interest in Cucurella will come as a blow for Newcastle, that Chelsea are open to a loan deal will be encouraging for the Magpies.

Newcastle now need to start talks with Chelsea and try to get a loan deal done ahead of Manchester United.

Cucurella has made 59 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The left-back has scored one goal, given three assists, and kept 12 clean sheets in those games.
