Tottenham plotting a potential move to land deadly £55m goal scorer who is set to join Postecoglou

Lille centre-forward Jonathan David is reportedly ‘keen’ on joining Tottenham this summer, as Ange Postecoglou continues to search for a replacement for Harry Kane.

Kane scored 30 Premier League goals for Spurs last season so there is no doubt that his departure leaves a huge void in the squad.

A number of strikers have been linked with Tottenham recently. Genk’s Gift Orban is one player on Postecoglou’s radar, for example.

Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez has also been discussed. The 22-year-old scored 15 league goals last season, firing the Dutch club to the Eredivisie league title.

David is certainly one player that cannot be discounted, though. The Lille star was Fabio Paratici’s preferred option to replace Kane before he left his role as Tottenham’s director of football in April.

David scored 24 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances last season, making him the division’s third-highest goal scorer, trailing only Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette.

If the 23-year-old could produce a similar return for Tottenham in the Premier League, he could prove to be the perfect Kane replacement.

Tottenham reconsider Paratici striker target

According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, David ‘cannot be ruled out’ as Tottenham’s next striker signing. But, he could be an expensive addition.

“Jonathan David remains a really interesting one. If we are talking about fees, that’s a very high fee, somewhere in the region of 60 to 65 million Euros (£50-55m) but it could come down because David is keen on the move,” Jacobs told Last Word on Spurs.
