Tottenham £15m player set to leave club as he want to play in Europe

Kris Boyd has suggested that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will want to leave Tottenham Hotspur to play in Europe.

The former Scotland striker thinks that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also possibly doesn’t Ange Postecoglou’s style of play at Tottenham.

The Treble-winning boss at Celtic has brought dynamism, attacking intent and risky football to Hotspur Way and Boyd added that certain players won’t suit that, so they will have to be moved on, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.

It was noted that Hojbjerg, who was a £15 million Jose Mourinho signing (Sky Sports), hasn’t started a game for Spurs this season.

The 28-year-old has only played 14 minutes, with suggestions that he could be on his way to La Liga.

Either way, with Postecoglou starting to get warm in his seat at Spurs, Boyd spoke about Hojbjerg’s current situation.

“You have got players who will want to play in Europe and Tottenham aren’t in Europe,” said Boyd.

“There will be players there who will be saying ‘I want to sample the European nights and if there is an opportunity to move, then I want to move’.

“Hojbjerg has been in Tottenham’s starting XI, for a number of years now. And he finds himself out of the team.

“There are a lot of players, with a change of manager and the style of play Ange Postecoglou plays, you need to be able to fit and fit into that style, or you won’t be there.

Hojbjerg should leave

If Postecoglou doesn’t fancy him and the player wants to start a new career path, then it’s best to move him on.

That way, Spurs can get a transfer fee for the hard-hitting midfielder, take him off the wage bill and then use that money to bring in other players
