Alan Brazil gave two reasons why Tottenham should stay away from PL striker

Alan Brazil is against the idea of Tottenham Hotspur signing Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a switch to Tottenham, with Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claiming that the north London club are interested in bringing him in on loan, but Brazil does not think it is a deal that they should be pursuing.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I think he’s a busted flush now. Listen, when he was at his best, he was strong, he was almost… ‘Give me the ball’ and bang, he’d smash them in. He’s just lost his way. No, you find someone else.”

Brazil also went on to add: “I don’t mean that [being a busted flush] nastily, but no. Tottenham fans will be like, ‘What? No way.’ Right away, he’s up against it.”

Lukaku looks to have no future at Tottenham’s London rivals, with the 30-year-old not currently part of the Chelsea first team.

Romelu Lukaku still has something to offer

It is clear that Lukaku has many critics. In the past, former Everton striker Marcus Bent has even claimed that the Belgian is an “overrated” footballer.

Still, Tottenham are in need of a new centre-forward after Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich and Lukaku does not looked finished just yet.

It is true that his second stint at Chelsea has not gone well. In fact, that is probably an understatement.

His loan spell at Inter Milan last season also got off to a slow start but, in the end, he still managed to score 10 goals in 25 Serie A appearances, which is not a terrible record. The Belgium international also netted a few times in the Champions League, showing that he can still play at the highest level.

Ultimately, Ange Postecoglou bringing him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a year could make a lot of sense, though you can understand why some would have their doubts.
