Fabrizio Romano reported Tottenham at the verge of missing out €35m striker  from

Fabrizio Romano has reported that RC Lens have agreed a deal to sign Elye Wahi despite several other clubs showing interest in the 20-year-old striker, including Spurs.

A couple of days ago, we relayed a report from CaughtOffside, which claimed that Tottenham had emerged as ‘contenders’ for Wahi’s signature over recent days, having expressed a concrete interest in the forward.

The outlet claimed that Spurs look set to battle their local rivals, Chelsea, for the Montpellier star’s services.

However, Foot Mercato subsequently stated on Wednesday that West Ham United had moved into pole position for Wahi’s signature ahead of their two London rivals.

The publication added that Eintracht Frankfurt and Paris Saint-Germain were also keeping an eye on the Frenchman’s situation.

RC Lens come out of nowhere to secure Wahi deal

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that RC Lens have won the race for Wahi this summer, despite all those previous links to big Premier League moves.

The French club will pay €35m for the youngster, signing him on a five-year deal.

I expect Tottenham to instead focus on Gift Orban this summer, but we may have to wait for some outgoings before the Lilywhites actually put in a bid for the Gent striker.
