President urge Aston Villa to do everything possible to sign La Liga unshakeable defender

Aston Villa are definitely trying to sign Marcos Acuna from Sevilla in the summer transfer window.

When speaking to Cope, Sevilla president Pepe Castro has admitted that he has been in conversations with Monchi regarding a transfer for experienced left-back Marcos Acuna.

Reports emerged yesterday that Villa had submitted a £4.3 million (plus bonuses) bid for the 31-year-old World Cup winner – one that was swiftly rejected by Sevilla.

Unai Emery is clearly keen to get the signing of a new left-back over the line before the summer transfer window closes.

However, it appears as though no official bid has actually been lodged for Acuna as things stand…

President admits talks with Aston Villa for Marcos Acuna

The Argentina international is clearly a transfer target for Villa boss Emery this summer.

And Sevilla president Pepe Castro has suggested that he’s had conversations with Monchi about Acuna, but no official bid has been made by the West Midlands outfit as yet:

“We don’t have any written offer from Monchi or Aston Villa, they are just conversations. Acuña is a world champion with Argentina, European champion with Sevilla and has a price. When an offer arrives, we will study it and if it helps us to improve the team and be able to bring in young players with projection, it is our business model. We are going to return to that business model, young players with projection and capital gains. If Monchi calls me, for Sevilla I will do what I have to do and what is good for the club.”

Acuna will be a solid addition for the Villans. He is an absolute warrior and proved his worth during the World Cup out in Qatar over the winter.

The 31-year-old is ideally suited to the Premier League what with his tenacious tackling and aggressive approach to the game.

However, it must be said that there are more pressing priorities for Emery to address before the transfer window closes, other than signing a new left-back.

It remains to be seen whether Villa come in with a firm, and respectable, offer for Marcos Acuna.
