Newcastle considering a move to launch £30m bid as club move goalposts over Crystal Palace deal

Newcastle are contemplating a £30 million bid for Lewis Hall, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun, in an attempt to derail his scheduled loan move to Crystal Palace.

As we reported earlier this month, Chelsea turned down our loan request for the 18-year-old left-back and initially stated that he was ‘not for sale,’ preferring to transfer him to Selhurst Park instead.

According to Nixon, Chelsea have’moved the goalposts’ with Palace and may reconsider a permanent leave, with the ‘appropriate offer’ likely to be made in an attempt to balance the books at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are set to pay more than £165 million for Bighton’s Moises Caicedo (£115 million) and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia (£50 million + add-ons) and may need to raise funds following another ‘crazy summer’ of spending.

With that in mind, Newcastle has been offered encouragement on Hall, believing that a permanent move to St James’ Park may be conceivable after Chelsea turned down our original inquiry.

Today, both Sky Sports and The Telegraph reported on our interest in Kieran Tierney, while Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella is another alternative thought to be under consideration. However, it is believed that the latter would only leave if we committed to a permanent deal now or a loan move with an obligation to purchase next summer.
