Hutton can’t believe Tottenham could also sell electrifying midfielder after some news this week

The most high-profile departure of this summer window, by far, is star striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, with renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano offering his iconic “here we go” to the transaction.

Tottenham agreed with Bayern to sell their talismanic player for roughly €100 million (£86 million) with an additional €20 million (£17.2 million) in possible add-ons, leaving manager Ange Postecoglou with a gaping vacuum to fill up front, which is a concern for the incoming manager.

Kane had entered the final year of his Spurs contract, forcing chairman Daniel Levy and co to make a crucial choice on his future, since he could have departed for free next summer.

The 30-year-old joins Harry Winks and Lucas Moura as Tottenham players on their way out, while Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, Hugo Lloris, and Danny Hojbjerg remain connected with other teams.

There have been speculations in the previous week that the latter is close to joining Atletico Madrid, with Hojbjerg reportedly ready to leave despite being a regular starter under Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, and Nuno Espirito Santo.

If all goes well, the Denmark international might be up next after Kane, and BBC commentator Hutton believes letting Hojbjerg go would be a mistake.

“I think he’s been one of Tottenham’s better players in recent seasons,” the former Spurs defender told Football Insider.

“There is a lot surrounding him right now about moving on.”

“I believe they have adequate depth in the middle of the pitch, but Ange [Postecoglou] may look to bring someone in.” I believe the issues are more defensive in nature.

“I’d like to see them keep Hojbjerg and work on the defense.”But if the player wants to leave, Ange will not stand in his way, and perhaps they will be able to reinvest some money into the squad.”

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, how excellent is he?

Last season, the 28-year-old was a regular for the Spurs. Only Kane played more league minutes than Hojbjerg, and the midfielder is also one of their greatest performers per 90 minutes, according to WhoScored.

The former Southampton midfielder contributed nine goals from midfield, scoring four and assisting on five others (WhoScored).

Last season, the media dubbed him “sensational,” while former Tottenham shot-stopper Paul Robinson praised Hojbjerg’s form at the conclusion of 2022.

“I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much he has stepped up this year,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I assumed he’d be the one to make way for Yves Bissouma.” Bissouma cost the club a lot of money. Hojbjerg, I believe, recognized this and took action.

“He’s playing at a level we’ve never seen before.” He’s at his best when he’s wearing a Spurs jersey.”

Spurs appear to be losing a player in addition to Kane.
