Former Tottenham star urges clubs to accept Bayern’s latest Kane offer

Darren Bent has advised Tottenham to accept Bayern Munich’s latest offer for Harry Kane rather than risk losing their all-time leading scorer for free next summer.

And the former Tottenham Hotspur striker says the England captain should be itching to join the Bundesliga giants, even if it means missing out on being the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer.

“Harry Kane has been fantastic for Spurs, but they have yet to win anything with him.” Their rank in the standings may drop slightly right away, but this is normal. When top players leave a team, it is up to the club to rebuild.

“You wonder what Spurs do without Harry Kane. But do you want £100 million to invest in the squad and see him go to the Bundesliga, or do you want him to leave on a free transfer next year and perhaps join a rival?”

One of the key reasons Kane wants to stay is the possibility to become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer. He is presently second with 213 points, trailing Alan Shearer’s 260.

However, he has yet to win a major prize, having lost a Champions League final and two League Cup finals with Tottenham Hotspur. Being at Bayern Munich is the closest thing to a guarantee of success in football, given their domination of German football.

“I’d love to see him break Shearer’s record,” Bent added. He’s on the verge of being able to pull it off. But he also has the opportunity to play for one of the world’s most powerful teams, Bayern Munich. You can’t say no because if he goes there, he has a real chance of winning the Champions League.

“Kane is one of the world’s best center forwards, and they lost another in Lewandowski just over a year ago.” It is entirely up to Harry. Is he more interested in beating Shearer’s record and heading elsewhere next year, or in going to Bayern?

“If you have an offer from Bayern and the chance to win the Bundesliga and possibly the Champions League, it’s difficult to say no.”
