Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham plotting a move to sign £17m goal machine this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have held negotiations with Gent striker Gift Orban as they look for a successor for Harry Kane, according to 90min.

Kane wants his future settled before Tottenham’s season-opening match against Brentford on Sunday. Bayern Munich’s primary target is the England international, who has just one year left on his current contract.

Spurs have rejected three proposals from the Bundesliga champions, with the latest offer worth more than £86 million plus add-ons. Kane missed Spurs’ 4-2 loss to Barcelona on Tuesday, and with Bayern’s first league game just days away, time is running out for a deal.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, is ready to make a new offer for the 30-year-old around €110 million (£95 million) with add-ons. It remains to be seen whether that will be enough to persuade Tottenham to make a move, although the North Londoners are still looking for alternatives.

Tottenham have already acquired promising Argentine striker Alejo Véliz from Rosario Central, but they are still looking for another attacking reinforcement.

Talks

Tottenham have identified Orban as a genuine target, and Tottenham representatives have held negotiations with the striker about a possible move to White Hart Lane this summer, according to 90min.

Orban has impressed since joining Gent in January 2023, scoring 20 goals in 22 appearances in the second half of last season and already scoring two goals in two games this season.

The 21-year-old is valued at £17 million by Transfermarkt and should be a cheaper choice than the other Tottenham transfer targets.Tottenham are also interested in Elye Wahi, Jonathan David, and Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to 90min.

If Spurs decide to formalize their interest in Orban, they may face competition, as the striker has drawn interest from a number of European clubs following his goal-scoring exploits in the Belgian Pro League.
