Davinson Sanchez is on the verge of leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
According to popular Italian writer Fabrizio Romano, out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is on his way out, with Spartak Moscow submitting a bid for him.
The Colombian defender has been at the club for several years and has had a mixed experience. He was signed to tremendous excitement, with fans anticipating him to be the team’s long-term leader on the defensive line.
However, injuries and inconsistent performances have meant that Sanchez has become a liability for Tottenham these days. He always seems to have a mistake in him and despite his young age, does not seem to have a future here.
Sometimes, a fresh start is what a player needs to rediscover his best level and at this point, that is exactly what Sanchez needs. Tottenham also are in a position where they can part ways with him.
All Sanchez needs to do is take a leaf out of Samuel Umtiti’s book. The much-maligned former Barcelona defender went out on loan to Lecce in Italy last season and returned a player reborn. He now has secured a move to French club Losc Lille.
Davinson Sanchez requires something like this, and Spartak Moscow is a viable possibility. Away from the spotlight, the Colombian can rediscover his greatest form and may return to Europe in the future.
According to Romano, the Russian club has made a €12 million bid for the defender, which Tottenham is set to accept. It is now up to the player to agree on a move.
Tottenham are anticipated to add defensive reinforcements this summer, and in order for that to happen, some deadwood must be removed. Sanchez’s departure would be extremely beneficial in this sense.
