Postecoglou urge Tottenham to exploits a blunder in a swap agreement to beat Arsenal to a key target

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had a ‘bid accepted’ for Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson as Ange Postecoglou seeks to strengthen his defense.

Spurs have included Davinson Sanchez in the deal, who Postecoglou is willing to let go this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly eager to trade Sanchez, Ben Davies, Japhet Tanganga, and Eric Dier. As a result, their backline could look drastically different next season.

That comes as no surprise given their dismal defensive record previous season.

They finished sixth in the Premier League with 63 goals surrendered. That was ultimately the primary reason they ended eighth in the standings.

Tottenham has recently been linked with many centre-backs. Two Bundesliga defenders, for example, Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, are at the top of their shortlist.

Despite this, rumours say that the London club has just made a successful approach for Nelsson, thus he might be the team’s first defensive signing.

The Denmark international has been one of Galatasaray’s key players since joining the Turkish club in 2021.

Nelsson made 35 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray last season. In the process, he helped his team keep 17 clean sheets and scored two goals.

TEAMtalk said that Nelsson’s performances piqued the curiosity of numerous European clubs, including Arsenal, who were reportedly interested in signing him.

Tottenham, on the other hand, appears to have won the battle for his signature.

Reports from Turkey (as cited by Sport Witness) claim that Spurs have seen a part exchange offer of €15m (£13m) plus Davinson Sanchez for Nelsson accepted.

Nelsson is rumored to be interested in joining Tottenham, and it appears that Daniel Levy has devised a smart means of unloading an unpopular player while bringing in a new centre-back.

Sanchez must still agree to join Galatasaray. If he does not, Spurs will have to pay a price of €25 million (£21 million) to obtain the Dane’s signing.

With that in mind, it will be intriguing to see if Sanchez approves of a move to the Turkish club.

Tottenham will still aim to add more defenders this summer. Van de Ven and Tapsoba are the two guys Spurs fans should keep an eye on in this regard.
