Eddie Howe was in front of the press for the first time this summer and was asked about Harvey Barnes.

Eddie Howe concedes that Newcastle United have had some “frustrations” throughout the transfer window, but he is overjoyed with the signing of Sandro Tonali.

Howe said the goal now is to provide Newcastle fans with the “best squad” possible for the duration of the window. For the first time this summer, Howe stated unequivocally that Newcastle are not done in this window.

When asked if he had any frustrations, Howe responded in his post-match press conference, “Yeah, I think at different times there has been frustrations.”There have been challenging days because you clearly want the final goal, the best group you can have.

“We are aware of the difficulties we face. I believe we experienced every emotion during the summer.

“We were very pleased to get Sandro through, but we know there is still a need for more.”

Howe was also asked if Harvey Barnes was a player he admired. But he refused to react, saying, “I can’t say anything, I would never be disrespectful, so no comment.”

Newcastle must also improve several positional departments in the remaining window, according to Howe.

“I think we have good coverage in certain positions,” stated the Toon boss. Perhaps not so much in others.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to discuss what they are out of respect for the players we currently have.” Yes, I am well aware of the areas in which we must improve.

“We might need two different XIs in a week this season.” We must be prepared to compete on a global scale.”
