Tottenham is competing with other clubs to recruit Chelsea’s outstanding player

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur has joined Liverpool in the fight to recruit Chelsea defender Levi Colwill this summer.

Tottenham are in discussions to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven, who has a similar profile to Colwill, but the latter is also on their radar.

Liverpool were also considered for van de Ven. However, it was reported a few days ago that they have cooled their interest in the Dutchman following a consultation between Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke. The latter joined the team after previously working at Wolfsburg.

Returning to Colwill, no one knows what his destiny holds. Chelsea are certain that their Englishman will not be sold. However, the athlete has yet to sign a new contract that has been offered to him. He wants to first have an open discussion with Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino.

If there are reservations, it indicates that the 20-year-old is unsure about his playing time at Stamford Bridge next season. If that happens, he’ll most likely depart the west London club.

Forget about what Tottenham is planning; Liverpool must be ready to seize any opportunity to capture Colwill this summer. The 20-year-old might be an excellent long-term acquisition.

The England U21 international possesses all of the skills necessary to become one of the best center-backs in history. Being left-footed provides him an advantage over other Liverpool centre-backs, as we currently lack one.

It will not be an easy transaction because Chelsea will do all possible to keep Colwill or demand a very high fee. Liverpool must soften the player side and eventually negotiate a lower price.
