Newcastle United are interested in signing 25-year-old AC Milan Jarman defender

Newcastle United’s interest in AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez demonstrates the club’s ambition under new ownership, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the French defender is projected to cost more than £51 million, with clubs such as Manchester United also interested.

Theo Hernandez is the most recent Newcastle United news.

According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old has had a good career up to this point, having won the Champions League, Nations League, and Serie A.

What did Ryan Taylor say about Theo Hernandez and Newcastle United?

Taylor noted that the Magpies have a lot of alternatives and avenues they can follow through this window, but their interest in Hernandez “shows how ambitious” they are.

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT exclusively: “The number 10 [position] is something that I would expect Newcastle to be looking at.” There are a few other alternatives.

“At left back links to Theo Hernandez, I think the fact that there’s even interest in Theo Hernandez shows how ambitious Newcastle are and how serious they’ll be in terms of finances in the market.” So, even if there are no real names out there, keep an eye on them.”

What would Theo Hernandez bring to Newcastle United?

Pace, athleticism and most importantly, quality in the final third. That was the aspect of the Frenchman’s game that the great Maldini chose to focus his praise on – and with good reason too.

According to Transfermarkt, the defender has scored 24 goals and assisted 28 in 167 appearances for AC Milan, averaging a goal contribution every 3.2 games. That is an outstanding return for a defender.

Given that Eddie Howe primarily used Dan Burns in this position last season, a man who is naturally a centre-back, Hernandez would surely offer the squad with more balance and allow them to attack more efficiently down their left flank.

However, as Taylor mentioned, this is only a prospective move at this point, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle has the funds to go for such a highly-regarded talent.
