Despite Manchester City’s interest, Newcastle United are said to be the favourites to sign an Arsenal star who will shortly debate his future with Mikel Arteta.
Newcastle have only signed one senior player this summer, with Sandro Tonali joining from Serie A heavyweights AC Milan. Tonali has signed a five-year contract with Newcastle after joining from Milan for €70 million (£60 million). Tonali has surpassed Jorginho, Gianluigi Buffon, and Federico Chiesa as the most expensive Italian player of all time.
With Eddie Howe now preparing his squad for a massive comeback to the Champions League, Newcastle are expected to recruit a couple more players before the transfer window closes.

Man City have also been linked with a move for the Scot, but thanks to their affluent owners, Newcastle now have the financial resources to fight with Pep Guardiola’s side.
