Nottingham Forest willing to sign £17m former Arsenal unshakeable defender this summer

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has reportedly been told that signing a former Arsenal defender this summer will cost the club about £17 million.

The City Ground manager is trying to bolster his starting lineup in order to avoid a repetition of their relegation battle in their first season back in the Premier League.

Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, according to rumors, is also on the club’s radar.

The 25-year-old was at Arsenal from 2018 to 2022, but only made eight appearances in the main squad under both Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.

Mavropanos signed a permanent deal with Stuttgart last summer after a good loan spell, and he has made an impression in Germany, scoring eight goals in 89 games for the Bundesliga club.

However, according to Bild, the Greece international is poised to move again this summer, with Forest emerging as a serious contender to recruit him.

Mavropanos, on the other hand, will not be cheap, with a £21 million release clause already in place.

However, Bild reports that Stuttgart is willing to listen to bids of roughly £17 million for the star in order to cash in.

Forest are not the only team interested in signing the former Arsenal star, with Cooper facing competition.

West Ham, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Napoli are also said to be keeping an eye on Mavropanos, who cost Stuttgart only €3.2 million (£2.8 million) when he left The Emirates last year.
