Bayern Munich are interested in signing French U-21 midfielder Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice, according to FootMercato. The player, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, is expected to cost the club up to €50 million if they decide to make a bid.
Following the inability to sign Declan Rice, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has highlighted Thuram as a potential defensive midfield contender for his system. Initial discussions with the player’s entourage have already taken place. It remains to be seen, though, whether the interest is genuine. On Twitter, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has already rejected the reports.
In any event, this is just another example of the transfer window’s plethora of ins and outs. Bayern Munich is looking for a new defensive midfielder and may be willing to scour Europe until they find one. While using Joshua Kimmich or Konrad Laimer as an internal option may become more popular in the coming weeks, spending much on a DM is not out of the question.
