Carlton Palmer feels that one of the reasons Leicester City hired Enzo Maresca as manager was to exploit his contacts with Manchester City to secure players such as James Trafford.
With the arrivals of Conor Coady and Harry Winks, the Foxes have begun their summer business.
Maresca has no qualms about stopping there, with a new goalkeeper rumored to be among the expected incoming arrivals.
Their search has already led them to Maresca’s former club, with Zack Steffen as a possible candidate. The Sun is now reporting that the Foxes are interested in James Trafford as well.
What is the most recent information about James Trafford?
The young Manchester City goalkeeper is coming off a good season with Bolton, where Trafford excelled and demonstrated why he has a burgeoning reputation.
The 20-year-old has returned to his parent club, and it is uncertain what will happen next in his career, but his stint with the Trotters piqued the interest of Championship and higher-level clubs.
Burnley were the first club to express an interest in Trafford, and Football Insider revealed little over a week ago that the Clarets had begun talks to sign him.
Alan Nixon, through his Patreon account, has also stated that Middlesbrough is interested in the Manchester City goalkeeper as they try to replace Steffen.
However, both clubs appear to be in a fight as Leicester have now entered the contest, with it uncertain whether the Foxes will make a temporary move for Trafford or try to buy the young goalkeeper on a permanent basis.
We asked FLW expert Carlton Palmer about Leicester joining Burnley and Middlesbrough in the chase for James Trafford.
“I’m sure one of the reasons Leicester hired Enzo Maresca from Manchester City, a highly regarded assistant manager to Pep Guardiola, was the ability to buy or sell,” he told FLW.
“We saw how well that worked for Vincent Kompany at Burnley.” Leicester are imposing their will on their young Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
“James, who is still only 20, spent last season on loan from Manchester City to League One Bolton and had a fantastic season.” Enzo will have worked closely with him at Manchester City and will be aware of his potential.”
