Everton in a serious battle with Aston Villa to sign £20m Leeds United midfielder

It’s no secret that Everton will be looking for fresh players during the summer transfer window.

After narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League for the past two seasons, it is critical that new faces arrive. Given the scarcity of choices, attacking players will be at the top of Sean Dyche’s wish list. Last season, the Toffees ended second-lowest in the Premier League, thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s continued injury woes and Neal Maupay’s single goal.

However, Dyche may also need to bolster his midfield. Tom Davies has been offered a new contract at Goodison Park. However, the Everton academy graduate declined the offer in order to pursue a fresh start elsewhere.

That leaves Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Garner, and Alex Iwobi as alternatives, with the latter having played more out wide since Dyche arrived.

Tyler Adams is one midfielder who has been connected with Everton. Following Leeds United’s relegation to the Championship, several members of their squad have been linked with moves away from Elland Road.

Adams is one of them, having cost the Whites almost £20 million last summer. The USA international made 26 appearances for Leeds in the 2022-23 season, but the slide was unavoidable.

Adams, according to the Daily Mail, has a relegation provision in his contract, however it’s unclear whether that is to go on loan or permanently.

Aston Villa, Brighton, and West Ham are also said to be interested in the 24-year-old.
