Newcastle in a combat with AC Milan to sign £25m Liverpool midfielder for replacement

AC Milan have been told they must spend £25 million this summer to sign Florentino Luis after’settling’ on the Liverpool-linked midfielder as their preferred replacement for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.

With the transfer market now open, Liverpool have already created a name for themselves by signing Alexis MacAllister from Brighton & Hove Albion for an unknown amount, and they continue to prioritize further signings in their engine room. They are, however, not the only Premier League club in that market.

Newcastle United, who have also been connected with Nicolo Barella this summer, appear to be closing in on Tonali for roughly £60 million. The 22-year-old is presently representing Italy in the European Under-21 Championship, which is being held in Romania and Georgia and features several Liverpool targets.

Micky van de Ven, Ryan Gravenberch, Gabri Veiga, Khephren Thuram, and Manu Kone are among the performers. The tournament will put them all on display.

Meanwhile, with all eyes on Florentino, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims it may only cost £25 million to win the race for his signature this summer. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has appeared in 86 games for Benfica, as well as on loan with AS Monaco and Getafe.

Despite this, his requested transfer cost is reasonable in today’s market. Liverpool have been linked with a slew of midfielders since abandoning their initial plans to sign Jude Bellingham in order to spread their funds over two or three summer signings.

Florentino’s name has been tentatively added along the route. Everton have also been linked with him in recent months as Sean Dyche continues his own recruitment push.
