Marc Roca, a midfielder for Leeds United, is poised to depart the club on loan for Real Betis in the coming days or weeks, with his stint at the club seemingly coming to an end.
It’s been a year since Jesse Marsch rebuilt the Leeds team, but relegation from the Premier League is set to hit the club again.
A large number of the American’s new acquisitions are unlikely to be with the club for next season’s hoped-for Championship promotion bid.
Throughout June, it has been widely speculated that Spanish midfielder Marc Roca is expected to leave the club, with Europa League side Real Betis interested in signing him.
Roca will initially join Manuel Pellegrini’s team on a loan deal, with an option to buy, according to Estadio Deportivo, one of several sites reporting.
According to El Diario Deportes, the midfielder is “ready” to depart Elland Road for Betis this summer.
Plenty needs to happen for the trade to be completed, with Roca arriving only after replacing the departing William Carvalho, who looks poised to join compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
“As for the midfielder, talks with his current club, Leeds, are well underway, and it is only a matter of time before it is known whether the loan sought by the Heliopolitan team will include, or not, a purchase option; from there, it is almost certain that he will be part of the green-and-white squad in the 23-24.”
Roca’s return to Spain may result in him regaining his best form, giving him a chance to make the Spain squad.
However, he was never going to reach that level at Leeds because the toughness of the Premier League was simply too much for him.
The 26-year-old needs to play at a slower tempo, and with Betis, he’ll be in a far better situation to show off his skills.
