Finally Tottenham are ready to sign Manchester United massive defender

This summer, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise deal for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Harry Maguire this summer, and club talisman Harry Kane isn’t worried about the 30-year-old joining him in N17, according to writer Dean Jones.

According to The Evening Standard, Tottenham are interested in signing Maguire from Manchester United this summer as Ange Postecoglou begins to look for new players in north London.

According to the source, Spurs may be hesitant to move due to Maguire’s £190,000 per week contract at Manchester United; however, a loan move might emerge as a feasible possibility for the 30-year-old during the summer window.

According to ESPN, both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have been approached about acquiring Maguire, with Erik Ten Hag thought to be willing to let go of his club captain.

In a recent interview, Ten Hag said of Maguire’s future, “I’m happy he’s here… it’s also a decision he has to make [because] nobody would be happy with this situation.”

According to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs on The United Stand YouTube channel, Wolverhampton Wanderers might be a candidate to pull Maguire away from the club.

Journalist Jones said to Football FanCast that Spurs striker Kane would be happy if his international teammate Maguire moved to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

“He’s a total professional, he’s come through some really tough times if you think of the mental challenges that he’s faced as a result of some of his performances,” Jones told FFC. I don’t think Harry Kane would be very concerned about Maguire coming if Tottenham asked him about it.”

Maguire has his detractors, to be sure; yet, he has demonstrated tremendous mental toughness over the last year or so and would provide an experienced head in the Spurs backline if he were to join them the Lilywhite.

According to Transfermarkt, the Red Devils skipper made 31 appearances in all competitions for his present employers in 2022/23.

According to WhoScored, the 30-year-old showed his sensitivity to dangerous attacking situations efficiently last season, making an average of 2.6 clearances per match in the Premier League.

FBRef also notes that Maguire has excelled in the art of aerial duels compared to his positional rivals in Europe’s top five divisions, winning about 3.01 per 90 minutes over the last 365 days, putting him in the top 12% for this category.

Of course, some Tottenham fans will be skeptical of Maguire’s signing due to his lackluster stint at Old Trafford, but he can still be a solid defender and has proven his worth at times for Manchester United over the last year.
