Daniel Levy cheeky secures as Tottenham first summer signing

According to rumors, Tottenham Hotspur have signed Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski to a four-year contract.

The Swedish international joined Spurs on loan in January, but it remained unclear whether the London club would sign him permanently.

Kulusevski got right to work. Indeed, he scored and assisted in only his third game, a 3-2 victory over eventual champions Manchester City.

The 23-year-old recorded five goals and eight assists towards the end of the season.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Daniel Levy was keen to secure a discount on the €35m (£29.8m) buy option included in Kulusevski’s loan contract.

Now, it seems the Tottenham chairman has been successful.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on Friday that Kulusevski’s move to Tottenham is all-but completed, for a reduced price.

On Twitter, he said: “Dejan Kulusevski will be announced as Tottenham player on permanent deal in the next days.

“Understand contract will be valid until June 2027, already signed. €30m deal agreed with Juventus instead of €35m buy option.”

New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is charged with rebuilding his squad ahead of next season.

Spurs endured a very disappointing 2022/23 campaign, finishing in eighth place and missing out on European football for the first time since 2008/09.

As a result, Postecoglou is expected to make several additions in the transfer market. Signing Kulusevski permanently is a good start, but the business won’t stop there.

For instance, Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with Spurs recently, as well as Leicester City’s James Maddison.

But, what Postecoglou seems to be focusing on his shoring up his defence. And, that’s no surprise, considering Tottenham conceded 63 goals in 2022/23, the sixth-worst record in the Premier League.

Also, Davinson Sanchez is expected to leave Spurs after falling down the pecking order. So, the manager will have to bring in a replacement for him.

Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is currently top of Totteham’s transfer shortlist. The 25-year-old found himself behind Issa Diop and Tim Ream at Craven Cottage, so, he is keen on a move elsewhere.

For now, negotiations are ongoing with Adarabioyo. What seems almost certain, though, is that Kulusevski will join Spurs permanently, with an announcement expected soon.
