Everton and Nottingham Forest are both interested in Romain Saiss

Nottingham Forest are still interested in signing Besiktas defender Romain Saiss this summer. After just one season, the seasoned entertainer will return to England.

According to Foot Mercato, the Reds are planning a raid on the Turkish club. It is believed that they would contemplate selling him but would want to recuperate what they believe he is worth.

Saiss’s 2022/23 campaign has been a frenzy. In December, he helped Morocco become the first African country to reach the World Cup’s final four.

Forest have opted to look for another defender or two over the summer. Felipe and Moussa Niakhate have been the most recent pairing, with Joe Worrall or Scott McKenna filling in as threes.

Saiss would bring a wealth of experience to City Ground. He previously spent several years with Wolves, where he made 206 appearances, including over 100 in the Premier League.

The defender would not break the bank with a reported cost of roughly £4.3 million. As a result, he may not turn out to be a negative signing for the Reds.

Compatriot Medhi Benatia has previously praised Saiss. He was described as ‘impeccable’ after being selected Morocco captain for the recent World Cup.

Forest will re-bid for Saiss.

Forest will no longer be alone in its pursuit of Saiss this summer. Similarly to last summer, the Reds will compete with Everton for the player’s signing as they want to bolster their team.

Forest will be hoping that the experienced performer can have the same impact that Felipe did. He joined the club in January as an experienced option, and it is expected that Saiss will do the same.

The player now appears to want to move. The ball is now in Forest’s court, and if they pay the money, they might just get their man this summer.

It’s difficult to criticize Steve Cooper on the transfer market, and if he wants him to come in, so be it. Saiss would be a good addition to the team, and the Reds will be hoping to win this race.
