Phil Hay drops a suggestion that former Fulham manager would be better for Elland Road

Former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has been linked with a move to Leeds United, according to Carlton Palmer.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay reported on June 7 that the Whites had explored bringing Parker to Elland Road this summer.

Leeds United are seeking for a new manager after parting ways with Sam Allardyce, who failed to keep the club in the Premier League after only four games in charge.

“Leeds United have been linked with Scott Parker becoming their next manager,” Palmer, a BBC analyst, told Football League World.

“Scott has two Premier League promotions from the Championship, with Bournemouth and Fulham.” On both instances, he possessed one of the league’s largest budgets.

“He got Fulham promoted, then relegated, and Bournemouth sacked him after four [league] games last season after they were promoted, as well as after a loss to Liverpool.”

“He publicly chastised his owners, which was not a good look.” He was fired as a result of this. He was recently fired by Club Brugge after only 67 days in command.

“In my opinion, with Leeds looking to make an immediate return to the Premier League, Scott would be a huge gamble at this time.”

True to form

Palmer doesn’t always make sense, but when it comes to Parker, he’s dead right.

He’s failed at his last three jobs, and the fact that he only lasted two months at his most recent employment shows that he’s not the best tactical thinker.

He’s also had a falling out with the board, something clubs don’t want and will think twice about hiring him.

Leeds must be ambitious and look to Europe for someone who has slipped under the radar and is not being pursued by the clubs surrounding them.

This is the next item they need to look at once the ownership problem is resolved and a new sporting director is in place.

It will be intriguing to see who the club ultimately chooses, but they cannot expect Parker to solve their problems.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay believes that a senior Whites player is set to leave the club for a reduced sum following relegation and will not sign a new contract.
