Paul Brown drop big updates as key player set to return to Tottenham in summer transfer

According to journalist Paul Brown, there is a player who wants to return to Tottenham Hotspur, but his time at the club appears to be coming to an end.

Harry Winks joined Sampdoria on loan this summer after falling out of favor with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte.

Due to ankle troubles, Winks failed to make an impact in Italy at first.

He has, however, emerged as an important player for Sampdoria this season. In a recent interview, Winks admitted that the loan move was advantageous to him and that it was a wise option.

However, he also expressed uncertainty about his future.

A report from Football Insider last month suggested that Sampdoria are keen on signing Winks permanently for a fee of £22 million.

With just over a year remaining on his contract at Tottenham, the club could potentially sell him and raise funds for their transfer kitty.

While Winks would love to return to Spurs and show himself to the next manager, according to Paul Brown, his future at the club is in jeopardy.

Brown remarked that Winks has failed to persuade numerous managers that he is worthy of a regular starting spot.

He stated to GiveMeSport:

“Winks is in transition. He has yet to persuade a number of managers that he is worthy of a starting spot.

“I’m certain he wants to return and prove himself to whoever comes in.”

“But he’s up against it and has a lot of people in front of him right now who the club has invested more money in.”

“So it’s possible that we’re nearing the end.”

As a result, it appears that the end of Harry Winks’ tenure at Tottenham may be on the horizon, despite his desire to return and prove himself to the club’s next manager.

Tottenham have still not appointed a replacement for Antonio Conte who was sacked in March. After they suffered the setback on their pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann, they are not forced to look elsewhere with the likes of Brendan Rodgers, Arne Slot, Julen Lopetegui and Thomas Frank among those recently linked.
